Key Tax Deadlines for August 2025: What You Need to Know

The arrival of August 2025 brings a set of crucial tax deadlines crucial for staying compliant and avoiding penalties. Ensure you report July's tips by August 11, and be aware of how disaster extensions and holiday rules might affect your filing schedule. Avoid costly mistakes by staying informed.

August 11 - Tip Reporting Deadline

Employees earning tips must report any tips over $20 received in July to their employer using IRS Form 4070 by August 11. This allows employers to handle FICA and income tax withholding accordingly. If your regular wages fall short of covering these withholdings, your employer will note the uncollected amount in box 8 of your annual W-2 form. Any unpaid taxes must be settled when filing taxes for the year.
